2016 ToC Champions Nour El Sherbini and Mohamed Elshorbagy have continued their winning ways since holding aloft the ToC trophies in January. El Sherbini, who is 20-years-old, became the youngest women’s world champion and the first Egyptian woman to claim the world title when she defeated the then world #1 Laura Massaro with a 3-2 come from behind victory in the finals in Malaysia at the end of April. In March, El Sherbini won her first British Open title when she defeated countrywoman Nouran Gohar, 3-2, in the championship round. El Sherbini’s World Open victory also propelled the young Egyptian to the top of the world rankings.
Meanwhile two-time titleholder Mohamed Elshorbagy has lost only one match since securing his second ToC title in January. After losing to Ali Farag in the quarterfinals of the Motor City Open, Elshorbagy has won the TAEQ Squash Colombia Open, the Guggenheim Partners & EquiTrust Windy City Open, the Allam British Open and the El Gouna International. He now has the highest-ever PSA rankings points average.
Next stop for both players is the PSA World Series Finals in Dubai, May 24- 28.
